How to Deal With a Bad Break Up (Don’t Point The Blame)

If break ups were easy then they wouldn’t have the word break in them. It’s true that when a relationship ends that there is always once person who is left more hurt than the other. It’s true that when that happens the person who is left hurting the most is most likely going to feel like they are breaking. If that person is you then know this, you are not alone. Every single person has been broken at some point in their lives and although it might feel like you might never make it out of the pain alive, you will, in time.
How to handle a break up

Don’t Point The Blame

When a relationship ends it can be easy to blame yourself. It can be easy to blame the other person but the truth is that if it was meant to be, then you wouldn’t have broken up and no one can be blamed for that. If you blame yourself for what has happened then you will find it impossible to move on and whilst you might not want to let go yet, at some point you are going to have to and the only thing that blaming yourself will do is damage you. If you blame your ex for the break up then you are going to find that all that hurt is going to hate and hate isn’t something that anybody should hold onto. It just simply isn’t healthy.

You Don’t Need to Change

After a break up has happened it is only natural to get the urge to change things about yourself but you need to be careful. You might think that cutting all your hair off or getting a new tattoo is a really good idea right now but once the hurt has settled you may very well end up regretting it. If you do decide that you need a change of appearance then why not try something that is a little less permanent at first. That way once the dust has settled, if you hate it you can change it again. You can’t magically grow back all your hair overnight and you certainly can’t erase a tattoo.

Don’t Be on Your Own

The thing about pain is that it isolates us. It makes us feel like nobody in the world could possibly understand but that just simply isn’t true. The worst thing you can do when dealing with pain is to shut yourself off from the world. Your thoughts are not your friends right now and the last thing you want is to be alone with them. Instead why don’t you get in touch with your friends? They are your support network and if there was ever a time to take advantage of that then it is now. It is really important when you are hurting that you have your support network around you because these are the people who will love you no matter what and sometimes we all need to be reminded that there are people in this world who love us.

They say that if your smile, even if at first is forced that eventually it will become real. A smile is a curve that can set a lot of things straight and even if you feel miserable you should still wear one on your face. The thing is that irrelevant to what your ex might have done to you, irrelevant to how broken you are inside, you are still you and you deserve to be happy. The only person who can truly break you, is you and you should never let that happen.

Delete, Block  and Remove

One of the biggest mistakes that anybody can make whilst going through a break up is stalking their exes online. The online representation of a person is never true to life and this is only going to hurt you more. The best thing you can possibly do during a break up is delete every trace of them from your social media platforms. It doesn’t have to be forever but it should certainly be until the idea of them smiling doesn’t hurt you anymore. Another reason why this needs to happen is that far too many people end up sending drunk and often damaging messages to their exes that ensure that a future friendship will never happen. You don’t want to make a fool out of yourself. You don’t want them to know about all the sad songs you and posting, so delete them. You might actually find some closure from doing so and whilst you might think that closure is a long way off for you, any journey you make can only be completed after taking the first few steps.

Don’t Be Afraid to Move On

After some time has passed you will find that you might actually want to get out into the open world again. It’s easy when we are hurting to fall into the trap of rebounding onto another person and that isn’t always a bad thing, providing that is that you are upfront with that person about your intentions. Sometimes however it can be a really scary prospect, especially if you are scared of getting hurt again but that doesn’t mean that you should let that fear take hold of your life. The sad fact is that there is every chance that your ex has already moved and on and you have to think, if they have then why shouldn’t you. You deserve to find a new muse of happiness just as much as they do.

In Conclusion

One of the worst pains that a person might feel is that of a broken heart. It can make you feel as though you want to die. It can make you feel like you will never find happiness again but if you know anything then know this, the pain is only temporary and one day your smile will be just as real as the person who is wearing it.
